My name is Heather, the voice behind Wholesome Nourishment. When I was less than a year old I surrounded myself with cookbooks on my parents’ kitchen floor and have been on a culinary mission ever since. I love cooking and creating new, exciting recipes that are both healthy and delicious. I believe that food should not only be a source of nourishment, but a joyful experience. More than just a meal piled on a plate, food is medicine.
Like many people who have struggled to optimize their health, I too have spent far too long feeling less than optimal. My goal is to inspire you to take your health into your own hands by sharing recipes & information on what’s working for me as I learn to nourish myself. My hope is that you will join me on this journey for inspiration, knowledge and creativity in the kitchen!
To our good health,
I grew up in Santa Fe, New Mexico and currently live near beautiful Pasadena, California. When I was 7 years old, I announced to my family that I was going to become a vegetarian. My parents were very supportive and my father even took me out to purchase a book about the nutritional balancing necessary when eating a vegetarian diet. Looking back now, it’s clear to me that was the beginning of my love for food & nutrition. After twelve years of eating a vegetarian diet, I am back to eating meat again, but over the years I have been fine tuning my diet. I spend my free time reading up on health & nutrition, listening to inspiring podcasts, creating new recipes and enjoying delicious food with good friends.
I have a very wide range of experiences in all facets of the culinary field. When I was fifteen I began working in fine dining restaurants. Over the course of my career I have worked as an assistant for the prop stylist on Giada at Home, the culinary school at Sur La Table, an assistant to cookbook author Amelia Saltsman and most recently as an event coordinator/interim marketing supervisor at Whole Foods Market. I have a certificate in Health Coaching from IIN and a certificate in Culinary Arts from The New School of Cooking as well as experience as a photographer.
